When people are not held personally accountable, the quality of their work can slip. Faulty or substandard conditions can be left for others to remedy. If ignored, these inferior conditions are covered over, completely out of sight and out of mind, only to resurface years later. CIA’s systematic image capturing and archiving by the on-site observer has proven to be a successful remedy to these surprisingly frequent situations.
During the reconstruction phase of a project, CIA ran infra-red camera snakes through critical residential deck drains. Video footage illustrated a liquid rubber roofing material that had entered the drains, mixed with pieces of gypsum, and produced a blockage in a ninety degree bend. CIA images were used to establish liability for the repair and to prevent inevitable flooding on multiple floors of the residential units. Having gone unchecked this potential flooding would have resulted in millions of dollars of damage and additional millions in personal claims.
